Description
The Neurodivergent Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) Course is a practical, neurodiversity-affirming course designed to make often-unspoken communication skills more explicit and easier to understand.
Learners explore how tone of voice, facial expressions, body language, conversational timing, social context and internal signals can influence communication and emotional awareness.
The course includes:
- Paralinguistic communication (tone, pitch and pacing)
- Interoception and emotional awareness
- Direct and indirect communication
- Social awareness and context
- Relationship and interaction skills
- Nonverbal communication
The emphasis is on understanding communication patterns and making informed choices, rather than teaching learners that there is one correct way to communicate.
What's included
- 6 comprehensive lessons
- 33 topics
- 100+ professionally recorded tone-of-voice examples
- 5 quizzes
- Course certificate upon successful completion
- Self-paced online learning
- Lifetime access
The course is designed for neurodivergent teens and adults aged approximately 13+, and can also be used by educators, parents and allied health professionals to support learning.
Developed by a qualified speech-language pathologist, the course draws on social communication and pragmatic language research, relevant interoception research and clinical experience with neurodivergent teens and adults.
This is not a sensory therapy program. Interoception is included specifically to support communication awareness, emotional awareness and understanding of internal states in everyday interactions.
